The Programme on Legal marriage’s to Legally Unmarried People of the Plantation Sector.

Programme was successfully Completed on 28th February at Auditorium of Divisional Secretariat Office, Kotapola. 26 couples were married there.

 

The Programme on Teaching in English to Sinhala & Tamil Children of Plantation sector. 

Regular (04 days for month)


Classes are being successfully carried out on every Saturday at 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Kotapola Maha Vidyalaya in Deniyaya. Now it is in fifth month. Funds available for another 5 months disbursed by peace unit.

Educational Development Programme & Seminars

 

04 schools

After school vacation 3 schools had started the programme. Ticket books were distributed among CPN members for funds rising on 11th Sep, 08 at CPN meeting. Total amount collected by 29th September was 2000/=. There are number of ticket books still being sold. Collected money will be deposited on 30th Sep before 3 P.M. CHA fund available for this month and from next month CPN will take it over.

 

 

 

 

Successful story: We have a good impact from Gallappahala School. There were 19 total numbers of students and only one in Grade 5. That student had got through grade 5 scholarship examination. A student got through the exam after number of years this time, so credit comes to CHA & CPN.

Had to stop the programme at Veragala Sri Devamiththa School because teachers were unable to continue after school classes.

72 estate women were trained foreign employment and how to access the rights of EPF/ETF. Awareness on EPF/ETF was useful since many elders after retirement in estates approach agents to collect their fund. The agents take a percentage (some times 30-50 %) of the fund for their service.

After the A/L results more youths are suffering without any jobs and expect any training to be given to them so that they can create an income. The intervention aims at youths who are expecting employment trainings to get on Recycling from Mr. Nimal Hemantha who received assistance for Recycling programme from CHA EDMP and he  is doing very well

Three youths from three communities were selected by CPN for the CHA EDMP Recycling Training, and two youths have completed this training very successfully.

In Trincomalee district, there are some students from poor communities who are unable to continue their education due to lack of educational facilities. . The intervention aims, CPN members helped  the 12 poor students to continue their education through the CPN traveling claim

Collected the old books and useful books from the past students and well wishers and formed the CPN resource centre in community centers of 06 DS Divisions to promote reading knowledge of the poor community

Due to the Tsunami and war more people in Trincomalee district  have  lost their legal documents such as birth ,death and marriage certificate and lands deeds and they do not know how where to obtain it . The intervention aims at providing documentation and advice by conducting legal mobile clinic.
