Case study
This is the situation of one child at Manik Farm. He was suffering from diarrhoea and waiting in the queue to take treatment at the CHA built PHC. His mother had washed his only change of clothes, and the child waits patiently for it to dry at the CHA built PHC for treatment minus his shorts. Equally there were thousand of children and elders who under went similar hardship
CHA provided required cloths for adult men and women, hygiene kit, baby/ infant kit, Hospital Kit and kitchen sets for 2000 families in Tamil Madya Maha Vidyalam, Vavuniya during March 2009
The NFRI assistance was coordinated with the cluster agencies and conformed to the UNHCR standard pack, often adding items requested as well.
A further 2000 NFRI, UN standard packs were given to 2000 displaced families in C-7 and C-8 Blocks of Zone 4 and to T- Block in Zone -1 respectively with the support of UNICEF and Solidar International. UNICEF provided kitchen sets according to the UN standards and Solidar provided Hygienic kit. UN standard family pack comprise of cloths, bed sheets, mats, towel, slippers, mats, mosquito net, buckets, plates cups and robes.
In addition 800 Patients at General Hospital of Vavuniya and Mannar were also given with Non Food Items. |
