This is a quarterly Newsletter on Internally Displaced People, published in Sinhala, Tamil and English, which keeps all stakeholders informed of the current situation of displacement in the country

Objectives:

  1. Bringing about greater coordination amongst the different organizations working on issues related to the displaced, those displaced by conflict as well as the tsunami
  2. Keeping all stakeholders informed of the current situation of displacement in the country
  3. Increasing awareness and educating others
  4. Ensuring that there is continued focus on the key issues
  5. Promoting the activities/ services being provided to the displaced

Focus Areas

•  Informative analysis of the present displacement situation in the country both in terms of conflict induced displacement as well as displacement caused by natural phenomenon such as the tsunami. 

•  Services available to the displaced, including updates on the activities of the 3 organizations

•  Policies and new legislations relevant to the displaced

•  Actual situation of service provision

•  Review of paper articles / news reports

•  International best practices

•  International law, principles

•  Articles of interest on displacement and different opinions on issues (specific themes such as coastal zones, gender, children, high security zones, landmines etc.)

* The Newsletter is also used as a bulletin board for notices / highlights pertaining to displacement.
