CHA - Mainstreaming Conflict Sensitivity Program prepared to address the need for effective and safe humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.

The program focuses in supporting humanitarian and development agencies, including government institutions, to integrate CS practices into project designing, implementation and monitoring in order to enhance sustainability in their projects safely and effectively.

CHA will support project assessment, develop staff capacity through training and advisory services and in standard development services for the implementing agencies and partners. The project duration is three years.

Objective:

To enhance living standards of people through safe, effective and sustainable humanitarian and development projects with minimizing negative impacts (conflicts) and maximizing positive impacts (Peace Building efforts).
The program consists of three components.

•  Rapid Context Assessment (RCA)  

This is a monthly report which provides analytical data and information of selected districts of Sri Lanka . The report will assess the security situation, humanitarian and economic issues. It will analyze structures, actors and dynamics of the selected districts, proving information to Implementing Agencies.

It will cover seven districts namely Ampara, Batticaloa, Colombo , Mannar, Trincomalee, Jaffna and Vavuniya.  

•  Conflict Sensitivity Training and Advisory Services

A formation of a group of Conflict Sensitivity consultants to assist development and humanitarian agencies in integrating CS practices into their project design, implementation and monitoring.

These consultants will assist agencies to develop capacities through staff training and advisory services accordingly

•  Conflict Sensitivity Standards

CHA aims to promote a Code of Conduct (CoC) on conflict sensitivity for agencies. The developed CoC would help agencies to adhere good practices in conflict sensitive planning , implementing and monitoring.
