Kallady Toilet Construction programe
The village of Kallady is an agriculture based village. 226 persons are involved in paddy cultivation (1600 acre).Due to the conflict those who lived in Kallady were displaced to Batticaloa and other districts. When returning back to their permanent place of residence they faced many an issue pertaining to damaged housing, lack of livelihood, adequate a adequate toilet facilities to name a few. With their livelihoods badly affected they did not have the capacity to rebuild a new toilet. CHA was approached by Operation USA and IMHO to assist these families and both organizations funded this initiative. A needs assessment was done by the GN, DS and the RDS president.
53 families were selected according to the recommendation of GS, DS of the particular village. Provided list of beneficiaries were assessed by the programme team and the names were revised according to the needs and availability of funding.
Method of implementation
A Need assessment was done with the approval of divisional secretary, need assessment report was sent to donor to check the funding availability, activity plan was developed, request made to DS and GA for approval. The beneficiary selection was done by DS, screening of beneficiaries was done by the CHA, and the list which was given by the DS was revised according to the needs and vulnerability of the families.
Project completion
The 53 Toilets were completed on the 30th June 2009, and the signatures of the beneficiaries have been taken in the presence of the GN, and the RDS President. Completion of 53 toilets was confirmed by the Divisional secretary. |
