Goal:
To be recognised as a centre of excellence by stakeholders in
the humanitarian sector.
Objectives:
| To collate, analyse, document,
and disseminate good quality and timely information that is
essential to the humanitarian sector; |
| To promote sharing and
responsible use of appropriate information; and |
| To stimulate development
and enhance information networks within the humanitarian sector. |
Tasks and Activities:
Reference Services

Provides
information on the humanitarian sector through the referencing
system, which includes print and soft versions. The specialised
collections on Peace and Conflict, Human Rights, Internally
Displaced Persons (IDP's) and Refugees, Landmine's, Disaster
Management, and others, can be obtain through CKC Rapid Referencing
System according to the subject area being referenced by the
stakeholder. |

Inter-Library
Loan System
|
Providing basic guidance and consultancy
services through the Information Unit, developing the information
collection system, managing information, and retrieval is
covered in the Inter-Library Loan System. Upon request, collaboration
is done with other organisations on information sharing.. |

Information Alert
|
This is an ebullition where information
is found, collected and stored for retrieval. Information
includes up-to-date news, data, reports, statements and/or
press releases on the humanitarian sector, employment opportunities,
upcoming training and workshops in Sri Lanka and overseas,
links to other humanitarian web sites, and job seekers desk. |

Publications
|
The Colombo Knowledge Centre (CKC) offers
most of its publications, newsletters, guidelines, standards,
manuals, and handbooks free of charge. It also disseminates
information on ground issues in Sri Lanka from a humanitarian
perspective. |
