Voices of the People - Radio Programmes
|
| |
| CHA in collaboration with Neelan Tiruchelvan Trust (NTT) is currently having an hourly Radio Programme every Saturday on the following channels. |
| |
| |
Gold FM 89.8 |
Every Sat 9 to 10 a.m. (English) |
| |
Sooriyan FM 103.2 |
Every Sat 4 to 5 p.m. (Tamil) |
|
Hiru FM 107.9 |
Every Sat 10 to 11 a.m. (Sinhala) |
|
| |
The above Radio Programmes were first aired on Saturday 19 August and will run for the next seven Saturdays, consecutively. On Gold FM, the programme was titled ´Hour for Life´ and it played songs that related to Peace & Love. Adverts were kept to a bare minimum and only adverts that related to Peace were aired; the news highlight that related to the Situation Report of the North East and sponsored by HNB was advertised.
In future programmes listeners are going to hear a few ´Voice Cuts´ from the displaced people of North & East. In addition, the next few programmes will carry messages of Peace related in metaphoric terms, and by using examples told directly and indirectly. As the programme advances, we intend to address other subject areas like Conflict, Human Rights & Development.
The Sooriyan & Hiru channels will cut across the country so that the Tamils would hear the plight of the Sinhalese and vice versa. Hence, a few translations in the ´Voice Cuts´ would be made to get the message across to all communities that in war ´Everyone is a looser´.
